Q. What is Birds Need Us?

Birds Need Us is a giving challenge lead by the National Audubon Society aiming to bring together people who love birds and want to protect them. Whether you are starting a fundraiser or making a donation, your support is what hope looks like to a bird.


Q. When is Birds Need Us?

You can sign up and create a fundraising page right now. Donations to fundraisers participating in Birds Need Us can be made from November 11th, 2022 to December 2nd, 2022 at 5PM Eastern.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. Who can start a fundraiser?

Anyone can start a fundraiser. Visit BirdsNeedUs.Audubon.org/Fundraisers to sign up.

The National Audubon Society and GiveGab shall have the right to refuse or remove any personal fundraising pages or content that it deems, in its sole discretion, inappropriate.


Q. Who can donate?

Anyone can donate. Donations can be made to fundraising pages from November 11th, 2022 to December 2nd, 2022 at 5PM Eastern. Donations through the Birds Need Us online portal to the National Audubon Society are tax-deductible. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card or via the mobile wallet option on your device (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Microsoft Pay). Donations will be received and receipted by GiveGab.


Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

GiveGab retains a 3% campaign management fee from all donations. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.5% + $0.30 for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to the National Audubon Society.


Q. Is my donation to The National Audubon Society tax deductible?

Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.


Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab to make a donation?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. If you would like to create an account the benefits include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.


Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The National Audubon Society will have access to your name, mailing address, and email address. This information is used to send thank you messages, send you updates about Audubon's conservation work, and provide updates on how you can help further protect birds. Yes! Simply visit BirdsNeedUs.Audubon.org on your mobile device.
